OKU Office is an exciting office redevelopment set close to the heart of Amsterdam, forming part of a broader scheme of development in the historic Fashion District of the city. The area in and around Koningin Wilhelminaplein has long been a center for thriving commercial, industrial and creative industries since the early half of the 20th century.
Inspired by the past
History
The square itself is surrounded by buildings that can trace their roots and heritage to the development of the international fashion trade in particular. OKU Office was originally designed and realised in 1964 and named the Fashion House. Created by the architects A.G. and Jan Diederik Postma, renowned for both their craftsmanship and an innovative approach to building design. Their trademark became their ability to create balanced spatial structures with a keen sense of proportions. As a result, they became known for their design of factory and office buildings throughout the Netherlands in the 20th century.
OKU Office is characterised by its open, light space and connectivity between floors that bring harmony and cohesion; allowing contact between people where needed to share ideas but also allowing private space to work alone; the best of both worlds. The atrium at the center of the building enhances the light and openness of the floors and leads up to a thoughtful and unique rooftop garden.
